CARDIFF JLGB – SIMPLY THE BEST!

Cardiff JLGB really have something to shout about. After twenty years they have been crowned top JLGB group having won both the Walton and Ancil Trophies – two prestigious inter unit and inter region competitions.

The group meet fortnightly on Tuesday evenings and are always keen to welcome new members - juniors 8 – 11 and seniors 11 – 18.

Members of Cardiff JLGB enjoy trying out lots of exciting activities which form part of the JLGB’s brand new skills based awards scheme called the "Enterprise Award". This cutting edge achievement and personal development programme is designed to meet the needs of today’s generation of young Jewish children.

The enthusiastic team of staff, who are all parents of members (and ex members of JLGB themselves), try to ensure the group get the most out of their fortnightly meetings and encourage all members to take part in as many of the other activities and events that JLGB offer throughout the year including; JLGB National Accredited Members’ Training - for those aged 14 – 18, JLGB Senior Summer and Winter Camps – for those aged 11+, JLGB Adventure Israel Tour – for those in their GCSE year, JLGB National Bands Weekend - for those aged 11+, and JLGB Junior Spring Camp - for those aged 8 -11 - many are open to friends and non-members too!!

The JLGB has been going through some exciting changes to help better meet the needs and support local Jewish communities so all in all it’s a hugely exciting time to get involved with the JLGB as the countdown begins to 2010 when the JLGB will be celebrating its 115th Anniversary and Cardiff JLGB will be preparing to defend those trophies!!!

Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, for which the JLGB is the ONLY Jewish Operating Authority, is open to young people between the ages of 14 and 25. To achieve the Bronze, Silver or Gold award participants have to complete an activity in each of the four separate sections.
