The JLGB has recently been going through some exciting changes to help better meet the needs and support local Jewish communities and Nottingham JLGB is no exception.

Cheder members from both Nottingham Hebrew Congregation and Nottingham Progressive Jewish Community enjoyed watching the new JLGB promotional video telling them about all the exciting activities they can get involved with.

Nottingham Hebrew Congregation also enjoyed a fun “dragons den” style activity run by Antony Grace, the JLGB’s Movement Worker, Dani Taylor, a young JLGB leader studying in Nottingham and Charlotte Joseph, one of the senior members of Nottingham JLGB.

The activity asked for those taking part to design “the best Chanukah present ever!!” The winning team came up with “The Secret Splash” - an electronic secret diary that only opens using your fingerprint and will squirts water at anyone who doesn’t have access to it!!

Nottingham JLGB’s new look launch night is on Thursday 14th January 2010 and are looking forward to welcoming lots of new members - juniors 8 – 11 and seniors 11 – 18.

The new and enthusiastic team of staff, lead by Diane Robbins and students from Nottingham University, will ensure the group get the most out of their weekly meetings and will encourage all members to take part in as many of the other activities and events that JLGB offer throughout the year including the new Enterprise Award. Over two years in making, this cutting edge achievement and personal development programme is designed to meet the needs of today’s generation of young Jewish children, as well as aligning it with the needs of the Jewish and wider community, and it is mapped to the Government Department for Children Schools and families’ “Every Child Matters” Agenda.

The JLGB also held a celebration kiddish with the help of Rabbi Perez of Nottingham Hebrew Congregation, to thank Alan and Rebecca Sommerstein, JLGB leaders for over 12 years, for their time in JLGB as they are now moving on.

All in all it’s a hugely exciting time to get involved with the JLGB as the countdown begins to 2010 when the JLGB will be celebrating its 115th Anniversary so why not give Nottingham JLGB a try!!!
