A visit to Cardiff JLGB by the Deputy Commandant Edna Terret was under the guise of a general visit but was really a surprise to say a big thank you to the leaders for their support and hard work for the local group.
The fantastic leaders, Mike & Deanne Salamon, Rochelle Schwartz and Karen Solomons were thanked for their continued hard work and dedication to their members. As well as thanking these four leaders, special thanks also went to Steven Salamon and Hazel Carr who support the team behind the scenes.
Edna presented them with certificates and said that everyone appreciates what you do for the members of Cardiff JLGB and thanked them for the continued hard work. They are wonderful leaders and Cardiff JLGB is unique in the fact that it is run by parents who happen to be ex-Brigade leaders.
The community spirit and family atmosphere is evident at Cardiff JLGB and the leaders run a fantastic programme of activities. The Juniors aged 8 – 11 have been putting together food parcels for Purim – Mishloach Manot – to be taken to Penylan House, something they do every year. They are also fortunate to have one of the local community police officers, Laura Moore, involved with the group and have visited the Police Station and Laura is arranging a sports activity for the group shortly.
Cardiff Senior members are currently working towards the Walton Trophy Competition which is a prestigious inter-unit competition and, as current holders; they are hoping to bring the trophy back to Cardiff again this year.
