INTRODUCING THE JLGB

THERE'S SOMETHING FOR ALL AGES AND INTERESTS IN THE JLGB

The Jewish Lads' and Girls' Brigade is a very different kind of youth movement

It's national - there are senior (11-18) and junior (8-11) groups in virtually every Jewish area

It's uniformed - a smart, modern uniform which encourages young people to take a pride in their appearance

It's challenging - whether in the sports field, in learning musical instruments, in acquiring new skills or even in mastering drill - and that's just a selection of what's on offer.

Above all the JLGB is fun. It offers a weekly programme of activities where something is always "on the go" backed up with an exciting programme of weekend, summer and winter camps. It gives members a chance to participate in an enormous range of sports, activities and hobbies, to be of service to the community and ultimately to become leaders themselves and provide the same pleasure for future generations.

For those of you aged 8 to 11 years, you'll find plenty to interest you among the large number of exciting activities at your nearest JLGB junior unit where the emphasis is on fun. Whatever you enjoy doing you'll soon have lots of new friends because your local JLGB junior unit is organised especially for boys and girls, just like you.

Each week the Senior units offer a huge range of activities: from arts & crafts, sports, games and drama, to outings, visits, guest speakers, and socials - plus the JLGB's own Proficiency Badge Scheme, with hundreds of choices available to try something new. In addition to local weekly meetings, our frequent weekend activities provide a wealth of fun and enjoyment to fill your spare time. You'll be part of a national family and you'll never be bored again.

JLGB Bands offer something quite unique; the chance to learn an instrument and to play music with Jewish young people nationwide. JLGB Bands perform all over the Country throughout the year at some very special venues and even in front of Royalty. If you already play an instrument you will feel at home and be able to play exciting music and make lots of new friends. If you've never played an instrument before then why not give it a go? We will teach you from scratch, and within a short time you will be impressing your family and friends with your new talent.

Not a JLGB unit in your area? The Jewish community wants more JLGB units across the UK. If you would like to see a local JLGB group in your area then let us know and we will do all we can to open a new unit.

We have recently opened new units in Southgate, Pinner and Hendon and we have had several requests from communities such as Bournemouth, Hampstead, St Albans and Edinburgh. To be able to open new JLGB units in these, and other areas, we need even more adult helpers. Do you have any spare time to help shape the future of Jewish youth?

The JLGB has over 200 adult volunteer staff working tirelessly around the United Kingdom. Whether you're 18 or 80 there is always something you can be involved in to help organise a JLGB activity or event. If you have a few hours to spare to help out at a local JLGB unit near you, your time and support would be warmly welcomed.

WHY NOT GIVE JLGB JUNIORS, SENIORS AND BANDS A TRY IN YOUR AREA?
