Due to the COVID-19 restrictions we are not running any face-to-face youth provision at this time. However, the good news is that JLGB Virtual is continuing every Monday - Thursday until the end of August. Watch now at www.jlgb.org/virtual

What do I have to do?

The DofE Award is split into four main sections and to achieve your Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards you need to complete each one.

For each section there are loads of different activities to choose from and if you can’t decide, speak to a member of the JLGB DofE Team or phone our office on 0208 530 8220 and we'll be happy to point you in the right direction.

The beauty of all these sections is that you are in control of what you do. There’s no-one telling you what to do and when to do it.

You can make a real and lasting difference to the lives of people in your community and examples of activities include helping at a youth club, running a social action project, fundraising, raising awareness for conservation projects and supporting the elderly or disabled.

We all want to get fitter and through the DofE, you can! From archery, Zumba, football, yoga, rock-climbing, dancing, wheelchair sports, basketball or anything else you can think of!

Discovering new skills or developing your existing skills and talents will boost your self-esteem and help you to recognise and improve your own skillset. Try playing a musical instrument, learning a new language, designing a website, making a film…the choice really is yours!

You and your team of between five and seven friends will plan an expedition of one night for Bronze, two nights for Silver and three nights for Gold.  Your group will be completely self-sufficient for your expeditions and will have planned every aspect for yourselves!

To achieve your Gold Award, you will have to complete the Residential section which involves four nights and five days away from your home comforts with people you’ve never met, undertaking a shared activity and working together. You can choose a project such working with the National Trust, helping at a children’s camp or developing an urban recycling project. Whatever you choose to do for your Residential section will give you the chance to make a whole new friendship group whilst collaborating with others on a worthwhile and meaningful project.
